Liu Shiming Art Foundation PresentsHer (Invisible) Cities: A Short Film Screening in Collaboration with Sorry Not Sorry
The Liu Shiming Art Foundation is proud to present Her (Invisible) Cities, a special short film screening in collaboration with Sorry Not Sorry, a platform dedicated to amplifying Asian and Asian diasporic voices in cinema. The screening will take place on Saturday, February 15th, at 3:00 PM at the Liu Shiming Art Gallery (15 E 40th Street, 5th Floor, New York).
This carefully curated program features short films by Tang Yi, Shu-Ying Chung, and Kyuri Jeon, three visionary filmmakers who explore themes of identity, migration, and resilience through the perspectives of Asian women across different generations. Following the screening, a Q&A session will be held with directors Shu-Ying Chung and Kyuri Jeon, moderated by Brandy Wang, founder of Sorry Not Sorry.
About the Program: Her (Invisible) Cities
Her (Invisible) Cities presents short films that trace the movements of three Asian women of different ages. The program explores diasporic experiences in contemporary urban spaces, concerning the hybridity of identities, nationality, and citizenship. The stories present nuanced and powerful portraits of secrets, desires, and memories of the three women, revealing often-hidden intersectional experiences that are embedded in transnational journeys and everyday lives. Their shared resilience forms a dialogue that transcends space and temporality: one’s present holds the echoes of the others’ unlived past and future yet to come.
