INTERNSHIP
Supports one Liu Shiming Intern within the Guggenheim’s Summer Internship, beginning Summer 2026
The Liu Shiming Internship is established through a partnership between the Liu Shiming Art Foundation and the Guggenheim New York. This opportunity supports one Liu Shiming Intern annually within the Guggenheim’s Summer Internship, providing high-level institutional experience at one of the world’s leading museums of modern and contemporary art.
The internship will launch with an inaugural funded placement in Summer 2026. Beginning in 2027, the opportunity transitions into a permanent endowment, ensuring support for one Liu Shiming Intern each year in perpetuity. While the internship is made possible by the Foundation, the Guggenheim New York manages recruitment, selection, and program administration. Selected interns are fully integrated into the museum’s established summer cohort.
Guggenheim internships offer students and recent graduates hands-on experience across museum departments, complemented by seminars, professional development opportunities, and access to an international network of cultural practitioners. Through this partnership, the Foundation expands its commitment to supporting emerging arts professionals beyond studio practice and into institutional leadership.
The Liu Shiming Internship reflects the Foundation’s broader philanthropic mission, which includes scholarship partnerships with over 50 higher education institutions worldwide, the Artist Grants program, and the Distinguished Educator Award. Inspired by Liu Shiming’s lifelong dedication to teaching and mentorship, the internship supports the next generation of museum leaders, curators, and educators.
