The Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) has recently celebrated excellence and ambition, awarding scholarships to outstanding recipients at the Scholarships and Awards Ceremony on October 20th. During the event, Tang Tian Li and Teo Elaine were announced as the first-ever recipients of the Liu Shiming Scholarship at NAFA.

Dr. Victor Koh, representing the Liu Shiming Art Foundation, together with Mrs. Tan-Soh Wai Lan, President of NAFA, presented the Liu Shiming Scholarship to the outstanding Fine Art students, Tang Tian Li and Teo Elaine. Mrs. Tan-Soh Wai Lan conveyed her appreciation for the endowment, which allows the academy to offer financial assistance to two students who are pursuing Bachelor of Arts annually for the next five years. She remarked, "These milestones signal the next chapter in NAFA’s journey as a preeminent art institution.“
In interviews with the Liu Shiming Scholarship recipients, Tang Tian Li underscored the importance of this support in easing the financial challenges faced by art students and its crucial role in assisting them with fundamental supplies. Enchanted by Liu Shiming's distinctive artistic journey, he is inspired by Liu's steadfast commitment and passion for art.

The second-year student Teo Elaine shared that the scholarship has lessened the financial stress on her family, amplifying her capacity to chase her artistic dreams. Having participated in multiple group exhibitions, the Liu Shiming Scholarship fittingly acknowledges her dedication, offering vital support as she continues her artistic evolution.
Established in New York in 2021, the Liu Shiming Art Foundation, serves as a tribute to the renowned Chinese artist, Liu Shiming. Beyond preserving his illustrious legacy, the foundation actively promotes art, history, and culture, providing indispensable support to emerging artists.
